Donald C Iverson PhD, is senior vice-president, research (international) for PICEPS Consultants, Inc. He holds a doctorate in health behavior and health education from the University of Oregon. Dr. Iverson has over thirty years experience with numerous private and government healthcare organizations, including consulting experience in Canada, the US, Australia and Europe. Dr. Iverson began his health care career on the faculty of the department of health education at the University of Toledo, Ohio. His academic career includes positions in the Department of Health Education and Health Behavior at the University of Toledo (assistant professor through full professor) and the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado (professor; vice-chairman for research and academic affairs; acting chairman). Dr. Iverson’s state government experience includes being the Director of Preventable Diseases and Deputy Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Disease prevention and Health Promotion in the Connecticut State Department of Health Services. His federal government experience includes being Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Health Information, Health Promotion, Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine in the Department of Health and Human Services, and later as Associate Director of the Cancer Control Science Project within the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control of the National Cancer Institute. In addition, he served as Research Director of the Ambulatory Sentinel Practice Network. His scholarly activities include authoring or co-authoring over 100 articles, book chapters and proceedings; presentations at numerous national and international conferences; and reviewing –manuscripts for seven journals. Dr Iverson is currently Dean, Health and Human Behaviour, University of Wollongong, NSW.
