Peter C. Raich, MD, FACP, is director of clinical research at PICEPS Consultants, Inc.  Dr Raich is a board-certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist with 25 years of experience in cancer patient care and clinical investigation.  Throughout these years he has been closely affiliated with the cancer clinical trial cooperative groups, and presently serves as chair of the Cancer Control Committee for the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and consulted to numerous organizations in the private and public sectors.  He is presently Professor of Medicine, at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and Comprehensive Cancer Center, and staff physician at the Denver Health Medical Center for the City and County of Denver.  Dr. Raich is also Senior Scientist, Center for Behavioral and Community Science at AMC Cancer Research Center in Denver.  He has recently been appointed to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Task Force on Health Disparities & Workforce Diversity.  He has published over 100 papers, abstracts and book chapters.  Specific research areas are informed consent and increased minority participation for cancer clinical trials and decision support for cancer patients.  With funding from the National Cancer Institute, he is presently evaluating a low-literacy, interactive, and culturally sensitive modification of the consent document for the SELECT prostate cancer prevention trial, and has developed decision support instruments for hormone replacement therapy and prostate cancer screening.
